When we disaffiliated from the UMC last year, we moved out of group insurance and into a self-insurance situation. Following our disaffiliation, our new insurers raised significant concerns around our West Palm Beach Campus, and its long-term deferred maintenance from prior to COH acquiring the property.

To fully understand our deferred maintenance challenges, we began to collect bids, eventually learning that those projected bids amounted to over 1.8 million dollars.

On April 25th, we received a letter from our insurance agency letting us know that we had until August 2nd to resolve our deferred maintenance, or all Community of Hope properties and assets would become uninsured by the end of August. At this time, we asked for an extension to explore our other options, and received a quick reply letting us know this would not be available to us. Therefore, on May 13th our Lead Team made the difficult and discerning decision, unanimously, to close the West Palm Beach Campus. We shared this difficult news with the West Palm Beach Campus at a special called Partnership Gathering on Monday, May 20th.

The Celebration Service for the West Palm Beach Campus will be held on July 14th.

Additionally, we will host a special Gratitude Service on Wednesday evening, July 10th – an evening of testimony, prayer, and worship. We welcome all those who have called Community of Hope WPB (formally Good Shepherd) their home for the last 40 years to attend this special time.

We welcome you to join us at our Loxahatchee and Lake Worth locations for services on Sunday and to get connected throughout the week.

COH Español will remain at the West Palm Beach Campus, along with our English congregation through July 14th. More info to come on what’s next for COH Espanol.

We want to honor the space that has stood at 2341 Military Trail. We are navigating what will happen to the 8.5 acres that God placed in our lives and hands 7 years ago. Currently, the property is being assessed for sale, but will be permanently closed to any outside of staff starting on July 15th. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Beginning June 9th, our services at this location will become “All-In”. Children grades 2nd - 6th will be invited to service, while Nursery - 1st grade will be offered in the KOH classrooms.
