1. (Icebreaker) What are you hoping for this Christmas? (A gift, experience, something else?)
Read our theme verse from this series, John 1:14 - The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
2. This verse says that Jesus came from the Father! Why do you think he was willing to leave his beautiful home in heaven to come to earth?
Read John 14:1-7 (for younger kids, we suggest the NIRV version which is simpler to understand!)
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
There’s More! (John 14:1)
3. What do you think was troubling the disciples? Share about any things that are troubling you.
There’s an Invitation! (John 14:2-4)
4. Jesus invites us to his Father’s house! He even says he’s prepared a place for us! Have you ever gotten your house ready for a guest? What sort of things do you do to prepare your home? What might Jesus be doing to prepare for us?
There’s a Belief that’s required! (John 14:6)
5. Read verse 6 again together. Who did Jesus say he was? What does that mean?
6. What do we need to do to get to live in the home that Jesus is preparing?
Let’s pray together! Dear Jesus, thank you for leaving your home because of your great love for us and for preparing a place in God’s home for us! We celebrate you this Christmas and want to live our lives learning to love and serve you more. In your name we pray, Amen.
Don’t forget that on December 26 we are offering an online service only. On January 2nd we’ll be back to in-person services at our regular times on each campus. And we invite you to join us for our next sermon series How Life Works, starting January 9th, when we’ll be teaching our way through Jesus’ most famous teaching, the Sermon on the Mount.
Ready for your next step? – If you would like to take a next step in your faith journey, such as trusting your life to Christ or getting baptized, text the word “Next” to 561-264-6079 and follow the steps there, and we’ll contact you to help you do that.

Christmas Missions Offering: We invite everyone to give an extra amount again this Christmas to support our missions and outreach over the coming year. This year’s goal is $150,000 to expand our ministry to the poor in our community by purchasing a box truck with a lift and a pick-up truck. We’ll use any additional funds as seed money to build a facility on our Loxahatchee Campus to enable us to have cold food storage and additional space for our “Love the 561” ministries and for other needs we have as our church grows. You can give all throughout Advent and at our Christmas Eve services at communityofhope.church/give.
