The Milestone Strategy at Community of Hope is designed for the church to come alongside families at every phase of a child’s life. During each phase, there are distinctive opportunities to leverage that will influence a kid’s future and their walk with Christ.. Each milestone class is uniquely designed to help kids navigate those moments of transition, and to equip parents to be the primary disciplers of their children.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. » Deut. 6:5-7
Milestone Infant Baptism
Milestone: Infant Baptism is the first step you will take with your child in their faith journey. Through this class, you will learn that now is the time to lay important foundations for your child’s faith. We will equip you to become their primary discipler. Milestone: Kindergarten will equip you for the next phase of parenting, and prepare your child for their entrance into elementary Kids of Hope. Your child will be presented with their first ‘big kid’ Bible and you’ll have a special role to play in this significant moment. We’ll discuss opportunities and challenges of this new elementary phase, and you’ll receive your next set of resources to equip you in your role as primary discipler of your child.
Milestone Middle School
Milestone: Middle school is a 4-week class for you and your student who is finishing 5th grade. During the class, students will learn about what it means to be a fully devoted follower of Christ and partner at Community of Hope. This is our version of the traditional confirmation class and a very important stepping stone in your child’s faith journey. This class is especially designed to help your child successfully transition from children’s ministry to student ministry. Parents, you’ll be equipped and given resources to discuss sexual integrity, technological responsibility, healthy habits, and authentic faith with your pre-teen. You’ll also meet and develop community with other parents who are entering the same phase.
Classes will be held on Saturdays before service, from 4-5:30pm on April 27, May 4, May 11, & May 18. Students will take their partnership vows on Saturday, June 1st, and have a Partnership Party to celebrate with their families afterward!
Milestone High School
High school is on the horizon. Don’t give up your influence now! Your encouragement, the way you listen, and the boundaries you set are still important parts of your child’s life, even when they push back. Milestone: High School is a class for students entering 9th grade and their parents. Students will have the opportunity to hear from current high schoolers about what to expect, and have the chance to ask questions they may have. Our recommendation at this phase is to set aside a time — a day or weekend away with your child — to dive deeper into important conversations about technology, health, sexuality, and faith. During the class, we will give you the resources to make this time both fun and significant.
Offered annually prior to the summer.
Milestone: Seniors is a year long small group for students who are high school seniors. This milestone teaches students essential skills for surviving outside the home. We cover everything from how to get along with your roommate to finding a church home. We have fun, practical lessons like how to do laundry or cook a simple meal, and also deeper discussions around faith and important life decisions that they will encounter in the next few years. We know the senior year is a busy one, so students are invited to join this group at any time across their senior year. We wrap up Milestone: Seniors with a special dinner for seniors and their parents at the beginning of May.
