Meal Packing for Haiti

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew we have diligently worked through an extensive plan in order to do the most good we can in Jesus’ name. As we’ve said before, we cannot solve all the problems that arise from disasters such as these, but we can do the best we can to contribute to the solution. With that said, we have made arrangements through Mission of Hope Haiti to host a meal packing event on our campus to provide 40,000 meals to the people of Haiti. According to the United Nations’ World Food Program, 100% of all grown crops in Haiti were destroyed in the wake of the hurricane. This unprecedented damage is why we as a staff, began to work with Mission of Hope Haiti, considered by many to be the most successful Christian organization currently operating in Haiti.

We are planning to host the food packing event at Community of Hope on Ash Wednesday March 1st from 6 pm to 9 pmAs we stated in December, half of this event would be funded through the Christmas Missions Offering and the other half would come through fundraising in the weeks leading up to the event! If you are feeling led to give above and beyond your regular tithe and offering, you can give online with the Haiti tag, give via text with the Haiti tag, or mark your giving envelope.

We understand that many of you may have already contributed to the ongoing relief efforts in Haiti as well as the other countries affected by the storm and we applaud you for your heart to help those in need. We feel that as a church, we will still respond as a Community of Hope and we invite you consider going the extra mile to relieve suffering in the name of Jesus.

If you feel led to contribute to the fundraising effort please click the link below and use one of our giving methods and assign it Haiti. If you plan on serving at the event we ask that you sign up so we can have an idea of how many stations to set up. Thank you all for being the kind of church that not only responds well to crises like this, but leads the charge in bringing the hope of Jesus to those who are in desperate need of Him!

  1. Hey! Trying to get my small group involved 🙂 we have a couple of couples with small children. Is there childcare for this event for young children?

  2. Will there be an Ash Wednesday service? I missed volunteer sign ups, any chance there is more room?

    1. Hey there!

Instead of a traditional Ash Wednesday service, we will be doing this food packing event. Even though you missed the sign-ups, you’re welcome to join us!
