Food Packing Event

Continuing Our Efforts

Wednesday, March 21 from 6:30–8:30pm | West Campus

Ever since Hurricane Matthew struck the island of Haiti in 2016, Community of Hope has been resolved to provide long lasting aid to sustainable organizations providing relief to that area. Since then, we’ve seen continued storm activity batter our region.  After the 2017 storm season we saw our church rise up and begin to meet the needs of all those affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. We are continuing those efforts with our annual Food Packing Event with our partner, Numana.

Community of Hope will host its 3rd annual Food Packing Event on March 21st from 6:30pm–8:30pm at the West Campus. We will once again pack 40,000 meals for Mission of Hope Haiti and we are also excited to announce we will pack an additional 20,000 meals for Convoy of Hope’s relief work in Puerto Rico. This event will be funded by money our church raised during the Christmas Missions Offering as well as the Hurricane Relief Offering we took last fall.

Ways to serve

Food Packing Shifts: This year we will do two 50 minute shifts to pack all 60,000 meals. Each shift can hold about 350 people. If you, your family, or your small group is coming to pack food you are welcome to pick a shift and have a blast.

Table Leaders: If your schedule allows you to come early and you’re comfortable with giving direction, be a Table Leader! We need 20 people to come to the west campus between 5 pm and 5:30 pm to receive a short training and to get a free t-shirt!

Table Runners: We need 20 people to help to keep our groups stocked with supplies. This is high activity task that requires some heavy lifting.  

Setup/Tear Down: Can you come early or stay late? Setup will begin around 5 pm and we need 10 to 15 people to help get things ready. Tear down tends to go very fast so if you can stay for 15 to 20 minutes after the event is over, we’d love your help cleaning up.

Small groups: This is a fantastic event for your small group to serve at. We have found its best to set a meeting place at the church before you enter the sanctuary for your shift. This helps us ensure your whole group gets placed at the same table. Please make sure everyone in your group signs up for the same shift time!

    1. Hey Theresa, yes please! Students have traditionally done Table Running together because they like the fast pace of it but feel free to have your student sign up for whatever!

    Eric and Malissa are not able to make this event. Beverly, Annmarie and I will be there from the Mitchell group and maybe 1 or 2 others from the group. I will be there early to help set up.

      Thanks for the head’s up. Please make sure those in your group that are serving sign up on their own too. It’s important so we get our numbers and plans correct.

      Elementary aged kids are welcomed to take part in the event. Please sign them up as well so that we can keep accurate numbers as we put the tables together

  2. I just signed up and plan to bring my husband and kids with me. Do I need to sign everyone up individually?
